We are the communities we serve and when the time comes, we mobilize with precision and heart.

CALGARY (25 June 2025) – As Rotary’s international convention in Calgary draws to a close, Rotary members and participants from over 140 countries will bring home indelible memories, renewed connections, and an inspired sense of purpose for helping to create a healthier and more peaceful world.

This week, Rotary announced the extension of its joint commitment of up to US$450 million with the Gates Foundation to end polio, a Rotary-led peacebuilding program to help strengthen communities affected by conflict in Colombia, and a partnership with Symbiosis International University to establish a Rotary Peace Center in India.

Over US $5.5 billion has been awarded through The Rotary Foundation to support these and other programs worldwide over the last 100 years.

2025-10-24 12:15:00Z Oct. 24, 2025 World Polio Day Presentation Polio Oct. 24, 2025 12:15 p.m.
Since 2012 October 24th has been designated as World Polio Day. On this day Rotary International along with our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) acknowledged the tremendous progress that has been made towards the goal of eradicating polio. While at the same time stressing the importance of completing the promise made to the world over forty years ago.
Because the wild polio virus has been eliminated from the United States since 1994 the subject of the effects of polio are mostly out of mind for our population. Many times, when club members are asked "what is the number one priority of Rotary International" they do not know. Also, when a similar question is asked to the general population, most of those under 50 do not know about polio. We as leaders of our clubs need to do a better job of educating our members and in turn the public in general.
District 5470 has set an annual goal of $1,500 from each club to Polio Plus. Donations can be from a combination of members and the club. Remember this is only a goal not required by the district.
