History

Apr. 17, 2026 12:15 p.m.

I have always been fascinated by history. The World War I diary that I inherited from my grandfather inspired me to learn more about the events that shaped the world. especially Europe. His narratives about the terrible battles, his life-changing experiences, and his everyday life as a soldier sparked my desire to create this book. an interest that I can never describe enough. I became a photographer and a writer. I went on to learn more about World War I by traveling to Europe and going to places that my grandfather talked wrote about.

My book is a way of This site will be an avenue for sharing the rich learning and the memorable experiences that I gained as I traced my grandfather’s path in Europe . on an adventurous journey and self-exploration. I am a writer, photographer, lecturer, and a student of World War I and II. I hope my endeavors will touch your hearts and enrich your lives in the way it did to mine. I am proud of my grandfather, my own heritage, and all the heroes we know as doughboys.

Cozy Quilt Project

May 15, 2026 12:15 p.m.

I am Nancy Eide, I have lived in the valley for 30 years.  I have one child, Alida, 2010 Rotary Exchange Student that went to Denmark. My husband and I are celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary in August!

I am recently retired from Valley View Hospital after working 17 years as the Valet Manager. As patients came for chemotherapy a common statement was how cold they were during their treatment. I belong to the Roaring Fork Quilt Guild and an idea struck me. Why not make lap quilts for patients to use and have during their treatment.  I presented the idea to the Guild and the “Cozy Quilts Project” was created in May of 2025.  All quilts are made by 38 local quilters.

The quilts are made with fabric purchased by the members of the Guild and some donations from community members.  An average quilt will cost $150 plus labor.

160 quilts have been made since the inception of the program with 110 quilts presented to Cancer patients

We are looking for backers for this project.  We now have a fund set up with 2 Rivers Community Foundation to help with any donations received.
